Welcome to the home of Martha's Vineyard United

Hello MV United Families,

WE MISS YOU! Never would we have thought we would miss those cold, wet, muddy, windy Saturdays in April, watching our children chase a ball around a field, yelling at Chris and Casey Decker, and of course Oliver Holmes (our beloved and dedicated officials) for missing that foul in the box; or seeing the joy on all our players’ faces as they scored the game-winning goal against Dartmouth; or those crazy Saturday mornings, getting to the West Tisbury School and seeing roughly 300 children running around laughing and screaming, as much as we do right now. All of us at MV United are so sad that we cannot see you on the sidelines supporting our players and coaches, or that we cannot mentor and guide your son or daughter in what we consider to be the best sport on the face of this earth.

We do know that we will again be on the field, teaching this beautiful game to our kids - your kids. Again, you will be on the sideline, on a New England Saturday having conversations with your fellow parents about how much you appreciate that raw, Northeasterly wind coming off Vineyard Haven harbor because you remember the months we sat isolated in our homes due to Covid-19. The Board of Directors wishes you the very best and we thank you for your patience and your support, and most importantly your resiliency during what will go down in history as one of the most momentous pandemics we have ever seen.

Yes, the South Coast Soccer League and all of us here at MV United have decided to cancel the Spring soccer season for both our Travel and Recreation programs. It is official as of April 30th.  The Board of Directors met this evening and voted to cancel the season and issue refunds of our registration fees. Here is what you need to know:

  1. Both Recreation and Travel players will be issued a refund to their registration fee. (Recreation $75 / Travel $350 or $400)
  2. The refund will be issued to the card used at the time of registration.
  3. There are a lot of refunds to process. Please be patient with us as we process these funds.

Ordinarily, at this time, we would be opening our registration for both our fall season, as well as our 2021 Spring season. There is still a lot of uncertainty surrounding social distancing guidelines, field availability, and school closures. We feel it would be premature to open registration at this time, YET, we will hold June 1st as an anticipated date to open Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 registrations. We understand this will be contingent on CDC, State and local agency’s guidelines and recommendations.

We will keep you informed of guidelines and restrictions regarding youth soccer as we receive them. If you seek further information, visit Massachusetts Youth Soccer’s website at www.mayouthsoccer.org and our website at www.mvunited.org. Again, we miss you and we anticipate the day we will see you again on the soccer pitch.

Warm regards,

Martha’s Vineyard United
